Location Recce

Thinking about the narrative for my short film, I decided on these locations to film:

Harleen's bedroom

Knowing I can't afford to rent a proper film set I decided to get creative and emphasise
the 'just starting out' position of the Director and use Harleen's bedroom to be a make-do dressing room. I specifically chose her bedroom due to the elegant mirror, desk, and rows of makeup which goes perfectly with scenes in the storyboard. It also gives the illusion of the professional dressing room set-ups. Compared to other locations I could possibly use, this is the most efficient, it is also not far from the others, it is also walking distance from Chadwell Heath Academy, meaning I can easily go back and forth in case I need extra equipment (if we film during school hours).

Layla's bedroom hallway

When taking a look at this location to film, I have an advantage on the camera angles to
display the characters walking out by standing in the doorway to the right, successfully capturing a seamless transition of them walking down to the next location, without the audience thinking that we've switched houses. This will also allow the audience to become curious as to what the situation is like behind the scenes with the Director and lack of a professional film set. A disadvantage to this is making sure the house is free, as this is my friend's house. As to not disturb my friend's family members, I will make sure filming is quick yet efficient so we don't hold up these locations for the whole day.

Layla's dining room/kitchen

This location in particular is the main location as it takes up most of the scenes. It is crucial to use this area as I can perfectly capture the actors doing what hey need to do, and incorporate different shots and angles as it is a wide area. The audience will be able to appreciate the personality the rooms bring to the camera, letting them connect with the actors as they see how hard they're working to bring popular content for their viewers. A downside to using this location is that due to it being in my friend's house I must make sure that filming doesn't take too much of their family's time as I must respect the family members who would need to use the area, as it it their house first. The perks of the two different pictures is that as a whole the rooms are connected, so it is easy to go. back and forth and be able to catch background actions from the other actors.
